PESHAWAR: Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan has tested positive for Covid-19, party’s provincial president Aimal Wali Khan disclosed in a statement here on Sunday.

Following the doctors’ advice, the ANP chief has quarantined himself at Wali Bagh Charsadda.

The development has forced the party to postpone its scheduled meetings, whose new dates would be announced later.

Party’s central senior vice-president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, central secretary information Zahid Khan, and Aimal Wali have called for prayers for speedy recovery of the party chief. They said Mr Asfandyar had not been feeling well for past five days, but his condition was stable.

Earlier, ANP had announced schedule for meetings of its provincial cabinet, provincial working committee and provincial council on March 15, 16, 17, respectively, to discuss the prevailing political situation and party’s organisational issues.

“These meetings will now be rescheduled,” party’s provincial spokesperson Samar Haroon Bilour said in a message on social media.
