SUKKUR: Last rites of a private TV channel’s reporter Ajay Laalwani, who was gunned down in Salehpat on Thursday, were held on Friday in the town, which remained shut on the second consecutive day in mourning over the murder.

Media persons associated with electronic and print media, many of whom had arrived from Karachi, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Sukkur and other towns, relatives of the deceased, friends and members of Hindu community participated in the last rites.

As the town remained shut on the second consecutive day, journalists took out a rally, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in Laalwani’s murder. The protesters’ leaders deplored that the killers fled easily and police had so far failed to arrest them. Police had completely failed to provide protection to media persons, they said.
