Mystery 23-foot sea beast on beach in Wales

A colossal faceless creature was found on Broad Haven South Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales, and reported to the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP). But with the gloopy remains already decomposing, experts couldn’t make a firm identification and now a sample from the sea beast must be sent for testing.

No obvious feature of the creature’s biology stands out, with the head seemingly gone and no limbs apparent. It is believed that the remains are of a basking shark, but he still can’t be sure. As for what killed the sea beast, that will likely never be known. The remains must now be either buried where they are, removed from the beach in chunks, or left for nature to take its course.

Extremely rare fox in parking lot

An Oregon man captured photos of his unusual encounter with an extremely rare animal: a Sierra Nevada red fox. Alan Miles, of Bend, said he was in the parking lot of Skyliner in Mount Bachelor when he saw another person taking photos of an animal. The photos that Miles snapped show an animal that has mostly black fur, with white at the end of its tail and on its paws.

Wildlife experts reviewed Miles’ photos and identified the animal as a Sierra Nevada red fox. The species is considered extremely rare, with fewer than 50 believed to exist in the wild in California.

Bear family sleeping under home

The Appalachian Bear Rescue said a utility crew responded to a home in Sevier County, Tennessee, investigating a gas leak and then called the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency when they discovered a family of bears sleeping under the house.

Wildlife officials were successfully able to “encourage the big bear to leave the premises,” but they then discovered the bear was a mother and had left behind three young cubs. The cubs were examined by the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and found to be in good health.
