MULTAN: As many as 30 shops were sealed on Sunday over the violation of Standard Operating Procedures during the smart lockdown in the district.

According to an official handout, the district administration accelerated its crackdown on violators of government’s safety guidelines during the ongoing third wave of coronavirus in the country. It stated that besides sealing the shops a fine of Rs140,000 had also been imposed on the violators.

Price control magistrate Nauman Abid sealed 16 shops at Gol Bagh, Gardezi Market, Gulgashat, Bosan Road and Samijabad and he imposed fine of Rs10,000 on the shopkeepers.

Assistant Commissioner Shujaabad Muhammad Zubair sealed 14 shoes shops and imposed fine of Rs22,000 on the shopkeepers. Regional Transport Authority Secretary Rana Mohsin imposed a fine of Rs63,000 on the owners of transport companies for allowing the passengers to travel through their buses and wagons without wearing masks. He also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on an owner of marriage hall for not following the SOPs.
