LAHORE: Acting US Consul General Barry Junker called on Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz Sharif at the PML-N’s Model Town Secretariat on Monday and discussed with him the matters of mutual interest.

Both sides discussed local politics, next election, Pakistan-US ties under the Biden administration, Pakistan-India relations and regional situation, said a press release issued after the two-hour long meeting.

After the meeting, Hamza said despite the conspiracies by the rulers, the PML-N was united under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.

He condemned the spike in prices of daily use items like flour and sugar.

He alleged the government had sent those abroad who were involved in flour and sugar smuggling. He said the country and its economy were suffering at the hands of inexperienced and confused rulers.

The PML-N leader expressed the hope that the real democracy would return to the country as the government was at a loss to steady the ship.
