HYDERABAD: A 12-year-old boy died and his father, along with two other persons, was injured when a large portion of a wall collapsed on them on Makki Shah Road on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Ubaidullah and his injured father as Ahmedullah. The two other injured were identified as Najeebullah and Bakht Mohammad Khan. After the incident, the vendors who used to sell their goods along the wall held a protest by blocking the road.
The wall was built around Railway Colony to prevent encroachments in the area. It collapsed with a huge thud and its debris fell on the vendors.
The shopkeepers retrieved the victims from under the rubble and transported them to a hospital, where Ubaidullah was pronounced dead on arrival.
The condition of his father was stated to be critical. Ahmedullah hails from Kuchlak, Balochistan.
The protesting shopkeepers told local reporters that the wall had been in a dilapidated condition and the matter was brought to the notice of the railway authorities but they did not take corrective measures.
DSP Aurangzeb Abbasi visited the site and persuaded them to end their protest.
