KARACHI: Six matches were decided on the opening day of the SSB Pakistan Day Girls Basketball tournament which commenced here at the Arambagh-Abdul Nasir court on Sunday.
Iqra University beat KMA College in the opening match by 14-8 while Neighbourhood Club outplayed Physical Club 12-7.
Arambagh Club beat TT Club 15-9 while KMA College beat TT Club 11-8 and Peterson Star Club beat Civil Club 9-6. In the last match, Neighbourhood Club beat Peterson Star Club 11-4.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Sara Shamshi, Director Shamsi Sports Academy. She was introduced to the players.
Speaking on the occasion, KBBA chief Ghulam Mohammad said: “Under the leadership of CM Murad Ali Shah, the entire set of officials in Sindh including advisor Bangal Khan Mahar, Sardar Baksh Mahar and Sindh Sports and Youth Affairs department deserve high praise for their support for sports and sportspersons in the province.”
Pakistan Boxing Federation’s Asghar Baloch, SOA’s Ahmed Rajput, Khalid Shamsi, Michael Turner and others were also present at the opening ceremony.
