KASUR: Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas during his visit here on Wednesday kept himself aloof from the ‘controversy’ of establishing a university at Kasur district headquarter instead of a rural area of Chunian tehsil.
Talking to the media, Mr. Raas said he would talk to the education authorities regarding establishing a university.
It merits mentioning that Population Minister retired Col Hashim Dogar had got Kasur university sanctioned from Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in Chunian tehsil. Buzdar was scheduled to announce it but could not do so as he cancelled his visit at the eleventh hour a few days back.
Meanwhile, residents of Kasur city objected to the plan and demanded establishment of the university in the city.
On Wednesday, the education minister visited DHQ Hospital, corona vaccination centre, land record centre and B-Division police station. The minister did not visit any educational institution. The district administration briefed him about local issues.
