MARDAN: Leaders of opposition parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement have accelerated their contacts and meetings to end differences within the alliance, it has been learnt.

In this connection, PML-N senior vice-president Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and JUI-F central secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on Thursday held a meeting with ANP acting president Ameer Haider Hoti at his residence in Hoti House here.

Sources said the opposition leaders discussed the situation following rift in the PDM parties over election of opposition leader in the Senate. They said that the PML-N and JUI-F leaders requested the acting ANP president to support the former as PPP had violated the PDM’s decision.

They said that Mr Hoti assured the guests that he would take up the issue with the ailing ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan.

When contacted, Mr Hoti said that small differences often surfaced in political alliances and it was not an issue of worry. He claimed that they would try their best to keep the PDM intact as the masses had attached great expectations to the opposition parties.
