BAJAUR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s local leader Maulana Abdul Salam Haqqani, who was critically injured in a remote-controlled blast in Damadola area of Mamond tehsil on March 25, succumbed to injuries in a hospital on Sunday afternoon, family members and party sources confirmed.

They said the 42-year-old leader died at the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.

Party workers and family members said his body was expected to reach his native village late on Sunday evening where he would be laid to rest on Monday morning.

According to party sources and family members, Maulana Haqqani, who was also the naib emir of JUI-F Mamond region, was on way to a nearby seminary when a remote-controlled bomb went off near him.

He was first shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Khar, and then referred to LRH in critical condition.
