SWABI: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Tuesday announced Rs50 million for the district bar association.

He made the announcement while speaking as the chief guest at a function at the bar. Senior lawyers and leaders of various political parties were also present.

Mr Qaiser said the amount would be used for purchase of books and computers for the bar’s library.

He also handed over a Rs1 million cheque to the bar president Daniyal Khan to be spent on meeting its daily expenses. The NA speaker also announced to provide the bar with the solar system to ensure uninterrupted power supply to it.

He said the government was ready to hold talks with the leaders of the opposition parties in the parliament on various issues. “We are ready to discuss the electoral, judicial and various other reforms with the opposition in the larger public interest,” he added.

Mr Qaiser also spoke about the various projects initiated and completed by the PTI government during the last seven years in the Swabi district.

Mr Daniyal Advocate also spoke on the occasion.

Separately, a motorcyclist was killed and his colleague injured when the bike collided with a car in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate on Tuesday. The cause of the accident was reckless driving of the motorcyclist.

The victim was named Ziyad Khan, and injured, Fazal Wahab, who was taken to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex. The body was sent to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Topi, for autopsy.
