PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday signed an agreement with the State Bank of Pakistan and the 1-Link company for collection of government taxes through alternative delivery channels (ADCs) to facilitate taxpayers and simplify tax payment procedures.

A statement issued here said the tripartite agreement was signed at the finance department, where finance minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra and other senior officials were present.

Secretary finance Atif Rehman, chief executive officer 1-Link Najeeb Agrawalla and director finance SBP Qadir Bakhash signed the agreement.

On the occasion, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority also signed an agreement with the Pakistan Revenue Automation Private Limited (PRAL) for making the ADCs functional.

The statement said the ADCs would enable the taxpayers to submit their taxes, particularly the sales tax, on services directly from their cell phones, computers and from ATMs, thus relieving them of the hassle of personally visiting the designated banks for the purpose.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Saleem Jhagra said the provincial government had been doing its best to facilitate the taxpayers and bring simplicity in the tax payment system through digitisation.
