[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies in Dacca,] More political leaders of East Pakistan called on the Martial Law Administrator Zone “B” General Tikka Khan here today [April 6] and assured him of their full co-operation in the early restoration of complete normalcy throughout the province.

[According to another report,] Selected communication facilities including teleprinter services between East and West Pakistan have been restored. The institutions whose inter-Wing communications system have been restored are Radio Pakistan, APP ... P.I.D. and PIA.

Maudoodi’s call: In a Press statement issued here, [Maulana Abul Ala Maudoodi, Amir of the Jamaat-i-Islami, said on April 5 that] the Muslims of East Pakistan must know that if God forbid East Pakistan got separated with the help of India then they would lose their freedom. They would become worst type of slaves of Hindus and this slavery could be likened with the bondage they underwent from the battle of Plassey to August 1947 ... [He] called upon the Muslims of East Pakistan to throw their entire support behind the country’s Armed Forces to liquidate the champions of so-called “Bangla Desh”.
