Mehran Club wins SSB Cup hockey tournament

TANDO JAM: Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University Fateh Maree presents the winners’ trophy to Mehran Club Hyderabad hockey team here on Tuesday.

TANDO JAM: Mehran Hockey Club, Hyderabad beat Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam 3-2 in the final to win the SSB Cup Pakistan Day hockey tournament here on Tuesday.

International player Khizer Akhtar, playing superb hockey, scored two goals while Rao Amir scored one for Mehran Club.

For losing side Sindh Agriculture University, the scorers were Hammad Rizwan and Sarim.

Eight teams from various cities and districts in Sindh participated in the tournament.

Vice Chancellor SAU Fateh Maree was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes. He praised the standard of hockey in the event and paid tributes to Sports Secretary Sindh Imtiaz Ali Shah for his fine support in sports event in the region.

The VC also thanks Director Sports SAU Anwar Hussain Khanzada for his tireless efforts to promote and organize sports activities in the university.
