SWABI: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has given the status of medical teaching institution (MTI) to the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex (BKHC), Shahmansoor.

This was announced here on Thursday by provincial health minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra during his visit to the BKHC along with health officials and leaders of the ruling party. Officials of Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi, and district health officer were also present on the occasion.

The minister also visited different sections of the hospital, inspected the wards and asked questions about provision of health facilities to patients in the hospital.

He also held a meeting with the officials of Gajju Khan Medical College and officials of the hospital. On the occasion, he said that the BKHC had now been included in the advanced health facilities of the province and the patients here would no longer confront problems.

“I hope the officials would serve the people with determination,” he said.

Mr Jhagra said the allocation for the Bacha hospital would be increased in the next budget and this issue was discussed with the hospital officials.

Answering a question, he said the hospital would now meet the health needs of Swabi and the periphery districts as well.

Prof Dr Fassehuz Zaman, chief executive of the hospital, said that they would now be able to provide adequate health services to the people and the students of Gajju Khan Medical College would also benefit from the modern facilities.
