Saving money is the best habit one can ever have. It gives you a sense to save money rather than wasting it, and also gives you a feeling of having your own money secured, which you can use anytime you want. Whether you save money in your pockets or your drawer, a money box is the right choice and that is why today, I have come up with a very nice and easy moneybox which you can easily make from an empty six-litre water bottle if you have one. Let’s start!

Things you need:

  1. One empty six-litre water bottle

  2. Scissors or paper cutter

  3. Square shaped piece of hardboard (at least 8-inches from all sides)

  4. Hot glue

Directions:

  1. Mark and cut the upper part of the bottle, most bottles have the upper part differently shaped as compared to the middle part of the bottle, see pictures 2 and 3.

  2. Put this part on the hardboard piece and cut a circle according to the diameter of the bottle, pictures 4 and 5.

  3. Paste the bottle to the hardboard piece with hot glue, and then secure it from all around with a tape, picture 6 and 7.

  4. Make a wide slit in the bottle cap to insert the coins or notes, picture 8.

  5. Our plastic bottle money box is ready. You can decorate it in any way you like.

For instance, you can tie colourful yarn or paste beads all around it, picture 9.
