How to spend Ramazan

This is an apropos to “How to spend Ramazan” by Muhammad Qasim Shafi (YW, April 10). The article gave a brief, but very useful explanation to the readers of how to dedicate oneself completely in remembering and praying to Allah the Almighty, and asking forgiveness for one’s wrong deeds.

Apart from that, as we will pass this holy month in hot summer days when there will likely be heat wave as well, we need to be extra careful. It is my request to all the readers to pay attention to stray animals and the needy people outside, who need our attention and care; provide water and food the animals and stay alert to the needs of the poor people.

How reading changed my life

This is with reference to the cover article “How reading changed my life” by Aneeka Ahmad (YW, March 27).

It was an incredibly interesting write-up with the writer’s personal experience regarding the benefits of reading in our lives. Reading makes us learn new things and we see the world in a different way. Reading helps us expand our mind, enriches our knowledge and gives us more ideas.

Those who don’t give importance to reading and consider reading a boring activity should at least give it a try once and pick up an interesting book. The best thing about reading is that one never feels lonely, because books are our best companions.

The cover story “How reading changed my life” by Aneeka Ahmed explored the idea of rereading a book, among many other benefits of reading.

It is true, because the second time you read a book, you find a lot of new things that you may have not given attention to before, or you had never seen that particular scene in a specific way. One should give a second read to the same book and see how different one may find it.

Dictionaries are essential

This is regarding the article “Dictionaries are essential” by Ahmed Hassan Nadeem (YW, April 10). The writer rightly pointed out the use and significance of dictionaries.

The use of dictionaries has lately been neglected because of the latest apps that help kids easily explore things on their parents’ phones, than going through the hassle of finding the meaning of any word in a dictionary. However, I would still reinforce to all the readers to indulge in the use of dictionaries in the form of physical books and don’t leave them for the sake of digital ones.
