SWABI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Dr Sanaullah Abbasi on Saturday hailed the Swabi police for tracing the suspected killers of Swat anti-terrorism court judge and his three family members.
ATC judge Aftab Khan Afridi along with his wife and two other members of his family were killed near the Swabi Interchange on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway here on April 4. The ill-fated family was on way to Islamabad from Peshawar.
District police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan has claimed to have arrested all the suspects in the case.
Dr Abbasi appreciated the role of the police officials, saying that they had showed professionalism and used modern techniques to reach the people directly or indirectly involved in the murders.
He gave away cash awards and certificates to the policemen who displayed extraordinary performance in tracing out the alleged murderers.
During his visit to the district, the provincial police chief also laid the foundation of Zaida police station, which has long been functioning in a rented building.
Dr Abbasi also visited the Shahmansoor police lines.
Separately, a man was killed over a petty issue in Beka village.
A woman registered FIR in Chota Lahor police station, stating that Intikhab Alam opened fire on her son, Naveed Khan, leaving him critically injured. She said her son was shifted to Bacha Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, where he died.
The deceased was a driver of Rescue 1122 Swabi.
Police officials said the deceased had allegedly damaged the near-harvest wheat crop of the accused, prompting him to take the extreme step.
