KOHAT: The health officials here have demanded installation of an oxygen plant at the KDA teaching hospital in the wake of alarming increase in Covid patients.

When contacted, former medical superintendent of KDA hospital Dr Hashim said on Saturday that the plant had been approved by the government last year, but it could not be installed as yet.

He termed it a bad luck of Kohatwhere such a big hospital was without an oxygen plant while small hospitals in the province had already been provided with the facility.

He said it was a waste of time to send empty cylinders for refilling to other districts where in some cases there was not a single full cylinder available.

He said the Covid situation in Kohat was alarming and the beds in the wards had been occupied by patients.

He said the patients were being shifted to the ICU on a daily basis.
