SWABI: Electricity supply to seven feeders was suspended after a 132kV grid station caught fire, Pesco officials said on Saturday.

However, they said the technical staff worked hard and got the electricity supply restored within hours to all the seven feeders temporarily as efforts to fix the fault in the grid station were underway.

The affected feeders included Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Chota Lahor, Chota Lahor city, and Dandoka in Swabi, and feeders in some parts of the adjoining Buner district including Totali, Changlai and Khudukhel, which get power supply from the Swabi grid station.

A Pesco official said it was not immediately clear as to what caused the fire in the grid station, but added the technical staff managed to restore electricity supply to the affected feeders within shortest possible time.

Separately, eight cylinders were stolen from a shop in a Palodand Chowk bazaar on Saturday.

Zakir Khan, the shop owner, said someone broke the locks of his shop and took away the cylinders when he had gone for Zuhar (afternoon) prayers in a mosque.

He said CCTV footage showed that a man taking away cylinders one by one on a bike. He said he would hand over the footage to the police to trace the thief.
