SWABI: One motorcyclist was killed and another seriously injured when two motorcycles collided on Topi-Kalabat road on Sunday, said Rescue 1122 officials.
They said that the cause of the accident was speeding. They said that the two motorcycles were damaged in the accident that occurred near Kalabat graveyard.
As a result, Abdul Abbas, 21, was killed on the spot while another motorcyclist identified as Fawad Umar, 26, received head injuries. He was taken to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor.
When contacted, doctors at the hospital said that he was in critical condition.
LOCKDOWN: Eight areas were placed under smart lockdown in the district on Sunday due to increasing number of Covid positive cases.
The lockdown would remain in place till May 7 and the district police would monitor the affected localities to ensure that people complied with the SOPs to wear face mask and keep social distancing.
The lockdown areas include Neway Cham (Zaida city), Swabi Khas, Gulshanabad (Maneri), Topi East, Gulbahar (Maini), Gharibabad (Shewa), Goz Cham (Yaquobi), and Mulababa Cham (Chota Lahor) andChota Lahor West.
Assistant deputy commissioner Gohar Ali and assistant commissioner in the four tehsils of the district visited the markets and warned the traders and common people to follow SOPs for containing the spread of virus.
The district administration has imposed section 144 and all the gatherings, weekly bazaars, fairs, night cricket tournaments, etc had been postponed.
A letter issued by the deputy commissioner said that the violators would face punishment under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code 1850.
The police said that 12 people had been arrested at Shewa Adda while traders and people who visited the local markets were warned.
