GUJRAT: Educational institutions in Gujrat have once again been closed after resuming the academic activities only for a day on Monday.
The Punjab government suspended its own notification of April 25 of allowing resumption of classes in schools after parents and civil society lodged strong protest against the decision. In an earlier notification, the government had announced that after the drop in the ratio of Covid-19 patients to five percent in Gujrat and Sialkot districts, the educational institutions would be opened with an immediate effect with 50 percent attendance of the total strength of the schools in both the districts.
The parents were astonished on the government policy for both these districts where the local administration had completely banned the dine-in facility in restaurants in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, but it had announced resuming the academic activities putting the lives of students, teachers and parents at risk.
Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa said the administration would take strict action against those educational institutions involved in resuming academic activities.
