ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police Operations Afzaal Ahmed Kousar on Tuesday cancelled leaves of police personnel working in the Operations Division ahead of Eid.

The police said that the step has been taken to beef up security during Ramazan and later the Eid festival. The DIG issued a written order in this regard on Tuesday, they added.

According to the order, the officers and the officials in the Operations Division will not avail leaves except in an emergency, they said, adding that the DIG said that the police was striving to secure life and property of the residents and take every possible step in this regard.

The security plan on the occasion of Eid has been especially devised keeping in view that majority of the residents leave the city for their native town.
