Iran partially closes border due to rising Covid-19 cases

CHAGAI: The Iranian authorities have decided to partially close the border with Pakistan owing to growing cases of coronavirus in the country.

The immigration gate at the Taftan border would be closed for an indefinite period on Wednesday (today).

A Taftan-based Levies Force officer told Dawn that the Iranian officials informed the local administration of Taftan about their decision.

He said migration process along the border in Taftan and Mir Javeh would be stopped, however trade activities between the two countries would continue as usual.

Only Iranian drivers along with their vehicles would be given cleara­nce for their temporary entrance and return at Taftan border, the Levies Force officer explained.
