PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party has criticised the provincial government for not inviting the party’s members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to the official meetings to let them share their views about launch of development projects in the provincial capital.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, ANP provincial spokesperson Samar Haroon Bilour said her party had three MPAs from Peshawar, but they were not taken on board in decisions about launch of development schemes in their respective constituencies.

She claimed that uplift schemes in PK-70, PK-71 and PK-78 constituencies were carried out under the supervision of PTI MNAs and other political workers.

Ms Haroon Bilour referred to an April 22 meeting on Peshawar’s uplift and said that the ANP lawmakers were not invited to it. She added the Peshawar Development Authority had presented the master plan for Peshawar’s uplift, but it ignored the three constituencies belonging to the ANP.

Instead of inviting the three MPAs to the meeting to get their input for the development schemes, the government involved non-elected people and PTI leaders to implement the schemes, said the ANP spokeswoman.

“The provincial government is not bothered to consult the opposition lawmakers on any new development plan for the capital city, which has caused serious unrest among them. In case the government does not change its attitude then the opposition lawmakers will have no option but to agitate,” she warned.

The ANP leader said her party would continue to raise voice at every available forum against the injustices.
