RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Sunday sealed site offices of four allegedly illegal housing societies along with four unauthorised commercial plazas and 24 shops.

RDA staff visited different sites of the city and found unauthorised structures in different places. They sealed four illegal plazas and 24 shops in University Town. A first information report (FIR) was registered against University Town, the site office of Al-Makkah City was sealed and a demolition order was issued against four illegal housing schemes namely Gulshan-i-Bahar, Mian Mohammad Bukhsh Town, University Town and Mivida (Khanyal Homes) in Rawalpindi.

An official of RDA said grand operations against illegal housing schemes and unauthorised constructions are underway in full swing to control illegal development of housing projects. RDA issued 26 notices and 25 challans to the owners of illegally constructed buildings. It has also received fees/charges of Rs32.1 million from various residential-cum-commercial buildings last week in lieu of commercialisation fee.

RDA Director General retired Capt Abdul Sattar Isani has directed the civic body’s officials to take strict action against encroachments, illegal and unauthorised constructions and commercial activities without any fear and favour.
