LAHORE: A Pakistani-origin British woman was found slain at her rented house in Defence on Monday.

Identified as Maya (25), she was shot in the head. She had arrived from the UK some two months back where her family is settled, Cantt Operations SP Sayyed Ali told this reporter.

He said the deceased woman’s friend was living in her adjoining room at the upper portion of the house and the police were taking her help to resolve apparently a blind murder case.

The SP said an unidentified caller had alerted them about the murder and after that forensic experts visited the scene and cordoned off the crime scene.

He said the woman was lying in a pool of blood in her room with her mobile phone near her body.

“We have seized the mobile phone for forensic analysis,” the SP said, adding the police teams were also trying to reach the nearby CCTV cameras to check the movement of any suspect.

Mr Sayyed said they had also contacted the parents and other family members of the deceased abroad to get details from them.

“We are also after two suspects and will share further details at a later stage,” the police said, adding Maya’s friend who was living at the same rented house shared no useful detail.

As there were some global travel restrictions, the family was unable to travel to Pakistan. The police were trying to convince her parents to make any close relative living in Lahore the complainant of the case.

The case would be registered once the police got an application in this regard, the SP said, adding the body had been shifted to the city morgue for an autopsy.
