Youth Club win Hockey League title

KARACHI: Youth Hockey Club won the KHA Inter-club Talent Hunt 5 A side Hockey League title after defeating Rabbani Hockey Club 3-2 on penalty shootout in the final.

Both teams were tied 8-8 in regulation time of the final at the KHA sports Complex under flood lights.

This tournament was organised by the Karachi Hockey Association under the PHF Domestic Hockey Development Vision to promote the game at the grassroots level.

Abdul Wahab of Youth Hockey Club emerged as top scorer of the tournament with 20 goals and was also the pick of the final by slamming double hat-trick for the winners. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs10,000.

Youth Hockey Club captain Abdul Wahab and Zafeer Ahmed received the winning trophy from the chief guest member provincial assembly Arsalan Taj Hussain.

Thirteen teams participated in the event.

The teams comprised reserve and standby players who were given chance to display their talent . It may be mentioned that these players could not get enough chance in previous events to prove their mettle.

MPA Dr Imran Ali Shah, ex-federal minister Shamim Siddiqui and a large number of Olympians and internationals were also present on the occasion.

Prominent among them were Hanif Khan, Danish Kaleem, Olympian Tariq Sheikh, Pervaiz Iqbal, Zaheer ,Abuzar Umrao, KHA officials Gulfaraz Khan, SP Aijazuddin, Riazuddin, Javeed Iqbal, Zahid Mehmood, PHF director, Mohammad Junaid and KHA secretary Haider Hussain.
