KOHAT: Secretary health Imtiaz Hussain approved a centralised oxygen supply system at the KDA teaching hospital and enhancement of the capacity of Covid testing laboratory here on Thursday.

During a visit of the CCU, ICU, corona laboratory, pharmacy, medical and surgical wards and other facilities, Mr Hussain said that the shortage of staff and necessary equipment would be addressed soon.

Additional director general health Dr Ikram, additional deputy commissioner Bashir Ahmed and district health officer Dr Sameen accompanied him during the visit.

Medical superintendent Dr Fazalur Rehman and ADC Bashir Ahmed briefed him about the shortage of various facilities due to which the serious patients were referred to Peshawar.

TRAVEL DISCOUNT: The Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a memorandum of understanding with the PIA under which registered traders will be entitled to up to 17 per cent discount on national and international travel.

KCCI president Asad Javed, former president Rasheed Paracha, Shakir Jehangir and Faheem Ullah signed the MoU with the district manager for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saima Aslam.

The interested travellers would have to obtain a request letter and membership card from the KCCI. The two sides agreed to resolve issues concerning taking cargo to the Gulf states, booking confirmation, etc.

BRAVE WOMAN: A 60-year-old retired watchwoman of a school, Syeda Bibi, is facing the harsh circumstances bravely and has started running a general store in Bilitang town to earn livelihood for the children and wife of his drug addict son, saying she has not lost hope even the other son left her after his marriage.

She said she got retired after breaking her arm and when things became difficult to manage she opened a shop to earn an honest living to raise the family of the son.

She says her conscience does not allow her to beg or take Zakat even in the hardest times.

She told Dawn her earnings were little due to exorbitant price hike and difficulty to pay utility bills, but she had no choice other than to feed her family on whatever was available.

She has appealed to the government for support to expand her business which could make her living better.
