PESHAWAR: The police have deployed 3,000 policemen across the capital city to ensure peace on Eidul Fitr.

A statement issued here on Wednesday said the capital city police had also cancelled leaves of all police personnel on Eid.

Police personnel have been deployed in all the major markets with policemen in plain clothes deputed at entry points of the city to keep an eye on movement of suspects.

Police guards have also been deployed at key government buildings and other sensitive installations all over the city.

The police have asked the residents of Hayatabad and other housing societies, who would celebrate Eid in their native villages, to inform the relevant police station in order to ensure protection to their residences.

The statement said the bomb disposal units would sweep the places of major Eid congregations.

The police have also increased patrolling in the city.
