Fortune hidden underneath floorboards

Keith Willie, a metal detectorist and treasure hunter, was hired to find a box the family believed to have been hidden “a long, long time ago” as they had wanted to sell the house, but didn’t want to leave the rumoured treasure behind.

After the few hints Keith was given turned out to be false, he focused his search on the attic of the home, in New England, US. A video shared on the social networking site shows the expert searching for about an hour when he spots tiny crowbar marks around the wooden flooring and feeds in a small camera to reveal a locked metal box.

Keith used a hammer to pry it open to discover “a total of $46,000 in bills from the 1930s and 50s, some of which were silver certificates, potentially worth significantly more than face value.”

Keith, who has been helping people recover lost items for a decade, said: “I would consider this cash box my most exciting find to date.”

Spaceship-inspired house for sale

A home for sale in New Mexico is gaining attention online after the current owner spent 21 years filling the interior with spaceship-inspired decor.

Marten Griego said he wasn’t satisfied with the paint job he was doing on the Albuquerque home when he first moved in two decades ago, so he redesigned a wall and fireplace after an imagined spaceship.

“It’s kind of like the edge of a cave. I thought of myself in the universe, some place on another asteroid or something,” he told.

Griego spent years filling the home with 3D murals and other space-inspired decorations, including a high-tech kitchen. Ortiz said entering the house is akin to “walking into a museum”. The real estate agents said there already has been interest in the home.

‘Chair bag’, anyone?

There are plenty of non-essential items you can buy online and some of them will cost you a pretty penny. For instance, did you know you can buy a pavé crystal chair bag for £800?

It’s a tiny folding chair, encrusted with crystals, hung on a long chain and you can’t fit anything inside of it. Yes, although called a bag, it doesn’t seem to serve its purpose, really!

The ‘bag’, designed by AREA, has been up for sale on a number of sites where it costs £815. One social media user recently came across this bizarre item on the website. Lexi Brown shared a screenshot of the crystal chair and a hilarious review in a post on Twitter.

She wrote: “A hobby of mine is finding ridiculous items for sale at websites. This might be my best find yet.”
