TOBA TEK SINGH: Popular television actor and former Lahore Arts Council deputy director Zubair Khan Baloch died here on Thursday due to a cardiac arrest in his village Chak 184-GB, Rajana. He was 79.

Mr Baloch had acted in a number of TV serials. A couple of his memorable roles were that of freedom fighter Rai Ahmad Khan Kharal and independence hero Murad Fatyana. Some of his known dramas included Jhok Sial, Suraj Kay Saath Saath and Dhoop Jali. He had an MA Economics degree from Government College University, Lahore.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar visited the veteran actor’s residence on Friday to offer condolences to the family members.

Baloch was the maternal uncle of PML-N MPA retired Col Sardar Ayub Khan Gadhi (also former provincial minister for counter-terrorism) and former MPA Sardar Masood Khan Gadhi and the brother-in-law of late MPA Sardar Murad Khan Gadhi.

He was the father of Additional Commissioner Sardar Waqar Hussain, late additional district and sessions judge Sardar Yasir Khan and a former PML-N candidate from Rajana’s provincial assembly seat, Sardar Babar Khan.

Scores of people attended his funeral prayers on Friday. His qul will be held on Sunday (today) at 10am in his village.
