KARACHI: A couple was found shot dead in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Wednesday.

Police said that a few days ago a notorious criminal had been gunned down inside their rented flat when a police party carried out a raid on the flat after receiving a tip-off.

The police suspected that the couple’ murder might be connected with the killing of the notorious criminal.

They added that the bullet-riddled bodies of the husband and wife were found from a flat on the sixth floor in Paradise Heights, near Perfume Chowk.

The deceased were identified as Jaffar Hussain, 30, and his wife, Fozia Mehar, 38.

The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Sharea Faisal SHO Iftikhar Ahmed said that on March, 19, a notorious criminal, Wahid Bux alias Fauji Jalbani, was shot dead at the same flat when a police party raided the flat.

The deceased, Wahid Bux, was involved in killing of sub-inspector Rahim Bux in the city.

Later on, the police also registered a case against the deceased couple over allegation of being facilitators to the criminal.

They were released on bail recently.

A CCTV footage obtained from the area showed movement of three suspects who stayed at the same flat as they were familiar with the victims.

The police suspected that the couple might be murdered by accomplices of Wahid Bux over suspicions of being ‘informer’ of police.
