RAWALPINDI: A DSP died from coronavirus on Thursday after battling with the disease for several days.

With the death of DSP Sohail Mumtaz, the total number of police officials who died from the infection has risen to six.

DSP Sohail Mumtaz was shifted to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) after his condition deteriorated.

According to police spokesman, the DSP had been performing his duty as DSP Kotli Sattian and contracted the virus while performing his duty.

He said six police officials of Rawalpindi police had died so far.

The others who died due to coronavirus are: Inspector Yasin Khan, Inspector Mohammad Ajaib, SI Asim Rasheed, traffic warden Hammad and Constable Nasir Fayyaz.
