MANSEHRA: The Abbottabad anti-terrorism court has handed over Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Mufti Kifayatullah to the counter-terrorism department on a five-day physical remand.

The ATC held the first hearing into the case following theincorporation of sedition charge in the FIR by the Mansehra police against the JUI-F leader under the anti-terrorism law.

The district and sessions judge of Mansehra rejected Mr Kifayatullah’sbail petition for not havingjurisdiction to hear it.

Bilal Khan, the counsel for the JUI-F leader, told reporters on Thursday that he would move the court for bail after the expiry of remand.

He said his client was arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance in Dec last year, while treason charge was added to the FIR the other day leading to the transfer of the case to theAbbottabad ATC.

MAN KILLED: Gunmen killed a man in Makhan Gali area of Oghi tehsil on Thursday.

Mohammad Ahsan was targetted when he was the way to Oghi tehsil from Makhan Gali. He succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.

The police said the deceased was the younger brother of Ishaq Tanoli, secretary to local PTI MPA Nawabzada Fareed.

They registered an FIR and began raids to arrest the accused, who fled after the firing.

Meanwhile, the Shinkiari police arrested two brothers over the murder of a woman in Shatay area. The arrest of Mohammad Tahir and Mohammad Ibrar came during a raid in Dodial area.

The police said the suspects were cousins of the husband of the slain woman, whose body was dumped on the roadside last week.
