HYDERABAD: Commissioner Abbas Baloch has announced that a two-day Mango Festival will be held in Expo Centre, Hyderabad, on June 19 and 20.

He made the announcement while chairing a meeting here on Friday which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro, director general of agriculture Hidayatullah Chhajro and other officials.

Prominent mango growers including Mehmood Nawaz Shah, Dr Zulfiqar Yousfani and Ali Palh also joined in the meeting through video link.

The commissioner constituted a committee with the task to organise the festival. Sub-committees at district level were also formed to facilitate participation of mango growers from Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan and Matiari.

The commissioner said that holding the festival this year was a big challenge due to prevalence of Covid-19 pandemic but things would hopefully improve by June 15. Cultural stalls would also be set up at the festival venue, he said.
