Faisalabad bat solidly

Published October 23, 2005

KARACHI, Oct 22: Solid knocks by Imran Ali, Asif Hussain and Khurram Shahzad propelled last season’s runners-up Faisalabad to 270 for four on the first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture against Peshawar at the Arbab Niaz Stadium on Saturday.

Peshawar, the reigning champions, elected to field first but skipper Wajahatullah Wasti’s decision backfired as Imran (74 with 13 fours) and Asif (77 with eight fours) added 109 for the second wicket.

Khurram then kept up the good work by hitting an unbeaten 61, which included six fours and one six.

Fazle Akbar, the ex-Test speedster, claimed three for 49 in 18 overs.
