ISLAMABAD: Three more deaths from Covid-19 and 146 new cases were reported in the capital on Saturday.

Officials of the capital administration said the deceased included a female aged 20-29 years and two males in the age group of 60-69 and 80-89 years.

They were residents of G-10, G-7 and Tarnol. With these three deaths, the toll from Covid-19 in the capital increased to 744.

In the last 24 hours, 3,661 tests were conducted and the positivity rate remained 3.98 per cent.

There are at present 7,696 active cases in the city. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 46,792 males and 33,218 females have contracted with the virus.

The officials said 16,955 of the patients were in the age group of 30-39, 14,715 in 20-29, 12,328 in 40-49, 9,996 in 50-59, 8,479 in 0-9, 6,712 in 10-19, 6,537 in 60-69, 2,798 in 70-79 and 1,026 in the age group of 80 and above.

Islamabad reports 146, Rawalpindi district 86 new cases, one death

The age group of 464 patients is not known.

Rawalpindi

One person died and 86 more people tested positive in the district of Rawalpindi on Saturday. Moreover, 277 patients were discharged from hospitals.

Fahmida Begum, 93, resident of Afshan Colony, was brought to Hearts International Hospital on May 21 where she died.

The health department has suggested a smart lockdown in Dhoke Chaudhrian after seven cases were detected in the local population of 472, ARL Colony Morgah with 14 cases from the population of 3,485, Ali Town Dhama Syedan with 13 patients reported from the population of 4,823, Gulraiz Phase-II where 12 patients were reported from the total population of 5,973, Dhoke Khabba with 11 cases in its total population of 4,260, Dhoke Ali Akbar with 10 patients in its population of 5,108 and Street 5 of New Lalazar after four cases were detected in the population of 1,182 in one day.

There are 851 active patients in the district - 90 in hospitals and 761 patients home isolated. As many as 688 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology.

Of the new cases, 65 were reported from the garrison city - 24 from the cantonment, 21 from Potohar Town and 20 from Rawal Town.

Moreover, 12 patients arrived from Taxila, three each from Gujar Khan and Murree, two from Islamabad and one from AJK.

Officials said 12 of the new patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 15 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 36 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 22 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), one patient each in Hearts International Hospital, Begum Akhter Rukhsana Hospital and three patients in Bilal Hospital.

There are three patients on ventilators, 60 on oxygen and 27 are stable.

Attock

The number of Covid-19 cases in the district of Attock on Saturday surged to 2,133, as three more people were found infected.

District focal person for Covid-19 Dr Kashif Hussain said there are 96 active patients in the district and 93 of them are home isolated. He said the number of suspected patients in the district rose to 33,830 while screening of 37,082 persons was carried out.

Responding to a question, he said results of 106 suspected patients were awaited. So far, 1,994 patients have recovered from the virus in the district. — Additional reporting by Amjad Iqbal
