KARACHI: Police on Saturday arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in the February 8 murder of two brothers in the Saddar area.

Abid Hussain Shah and his brother Sajid Hussain Shah, riding a motorcycle, were returning after appearing in a city court when four suspects riding two motorcycles opened an indiscriminate fire on them on the FTC Bridge in Saddar on February 8. Both brothers died on the spot, said South SP Investigation, Imran Mirza.

He said Abid Shah had divorced his wife, whose relatives allegedly murdered him and his brother in revenge, according to police investigations.

The held suspects were identified as Shah Nawaz, Faizan, and Gul Mohammed.

‘Children’s rapist’ held

The Bin Qasim police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a suspect on the charges of subjecting children to criminal assault.

Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur said that acting upon a tip-off, the police apprehended the suspect under a well thought-out plan. The suspect used to lure children to his trap by promising them to give something to eat or play with, He would then bring them to his home off National Highway to subject them to criminal assault, the police officer claimed.

He said that prior to his arrest, the suspect allegedly raped a 12-year old boy. The police took action on an information provided by the victim’s father. “Four cases of child rape have been registered against the suspect at the Bin Qasim and Shah Latif police stations,” said the police officer.

The suspect’s information has also been provided to all police stations in the metropolis, he added.
