ISLAMABAD: The positivity ratio of Covid-19 cases in the capital dropped to 2.5pc during the last 24 hours as 106 positive cases were reported in the city.

However, four people lost their battle against the virus in Pindi, 45 tested positive for the disease and 132 reportedly recovered. The positivity ratio in the district climbed to 5.7pc.

Officials of the capital administration said during the last 24 hours 4,162 tests were conducted. Since the outbreak 80,418 residents of the capital contracted the virus, they said, adding 72,142 people recovered.

So far 745 people died from the disease in the capital, they said, adding currently there are 7,531 active cases in the capital.

106 test positive in Islamabad, four die in Rawalpindi

Since outbreak of the disease in March 2021 till May 23, 2021, 223 (135 males and 88 females) deaths were reported in the age group of 60-69, followed by 187 (128 males and 59 females) in 70-79, 131 (86 males and 45 females) in 50-59, 100 (64 males and 36 females) in 80-89, 54 (37 males and 17 females) in 40-49, 24 (13 males and 11 females) in 30-39, 21 (12 males and nine females) in 90-99, three (one male and two females) in 20-29 and one each (male) in 0-9 and 10-19.

Likewise, 17033 people in the age group of 30-39 contracted the virus during the period, followed by 14769 in 20-29, 12370 in 40-49, 10026 in 50-59, 8529 in 0-9, 6736 in 10-19, 6547 in 60-69, 2806 in 70-79 and 1032 in 80 and above, they said, adding that age groups of 464 cases of the virus were not known.

Rawalpindi

Four people who died after contracting the virus were identified as: Raja Faisal Kareem, 90, resident of Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology on May 19, Moinuddin, 75, resident of Shamsabad, brought to RIU on May 22, Raja Mohammad Hafeez, 78, resident of Gulistan colony Wah Cantonment, brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital on May 22 and Mohammad Ikhlaq, 44, resident of Gujar Khan, brought to RIU on May 23.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 829 active patients. As many as 101 patients are in hospitals including 47 from other districts and 728 patients are home isolated. As many as 688 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology.

As many as 45 of the new patients are from the district whereas 29 patients are from the garrison city including 13 from cantonment, six from Potohar Town and 10 from Rawal Town. Eight patients arrived from Taxila, one from Gujar Khan, three were brought from Islamabad and one each from AJK, Attock and KP respectively.

Fifteen patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 16 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 38 in RIU, 25 in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), one in Hearts International Hospital while three patients each in Begum Akhter Rukhsana Hospital and Bilal Hospital respectively.

There are four patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 64 are on oxygen support and 33 are stable.
