HYDERABAD, Oct 23: Former Sindh Law Minister Muzaffar Sadiq Bhatti has said that the Sindh governor and the education minister had no constitutional authority to make changes in the “Sindhi teaching promotion and use of Sindhi language act 1972.”

In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Sunday, he said that the language bill was passed by the Sindh Assembly on July 7, 1972, and approved by the Sindh governor on July 16, 1972.

The former law minister in the Mumtaz Ali Bhutto’s caretaker cabinet was of the view that the above act could not be revoked by the governor through a notification.

He said that the governor’s decision had caused serious concern among the people of Sindh.

SNP: Activists of the Sindh National Party continued their protest demonstration outside the local press club on the third day on Sunday.

They were protesting against abolition of the teaching of Sindhi language from class-XI.

They warned that they would not tolerate conspiracies against Sindhi.

Our Dadu correspondent adds: Activists of the Sindh National Front took out a procession from the municipal park to the new chowk in protest against the issuing of a notification for exclusion of Sindhi subject at the intermediate level.

SNF leaders Mohammad Khan Panhwar and Mehboob Bhurgari led the protesters.

SANGAT: Members of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat also staged a demonstration in Dadu and demanded that the government should not do anything repugnant to the Sindhi language bill of 1972.
