ISLAMABAD: Five people lost their lives to Covid-19 in the capital and Rawalpindi district whereas 189 people - 133 in Islamabad and 56 in Rawalpindi - were found infected on Wednesday.

The positivity ratio in the capital was recorded at 2.6pc with 2.7pc in the garrison city.

Officials of the capital administration said death of a male patient was reported in the age group of 50-59 and that of a female patient in the age group of 70-79. They were residents of G-7 and Kurri.

During the last 24 hours, 4,961 tests were conducted in the capital, out of which results of 74 males and 59 females came back positive, the officials said, adding that 37 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 35 in 20-29, 17 in 0-9, 13 in 40-49, 11 in 10-19, nine in 50-59, five in 70-79, four in 60-69 and two in 80 and above.

Likewise, 11 cases were reported from Lohi Bher, followed by nine from I-8, eight from Tarlai, seven from Bhara Kahu, six from G-7, five each from G-11, G-6, Khanna and F-10, four each from G-9, E-11, F-6, Chak Shahzad and Kurri, three each from G-13, F-8 and F-7, two each from I-10, G-10, F-11, Rawat, Koral and Rawal Town and one each from Alipur, I-9, G-5, Sihala, G-15, Model Town, H-13, F-5, Saidpur, G-12, H-9 and E-13. Addresses of 19 cases are not known.

Rawalpindi

Three people fell prey to Covid-19 in the district on Wednesday and 56 people tested positive for the deadly virus.

The deceased were identified as Rabia Raffique, 74, resident of Gujar Khan, who was brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on May 25, Parveen Akhter, 62, resident of Gulshanabad Adiala Road arrived at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology on May 24 and Raja Manzoor Ahmed, 82, resident of Gulraiz Phase-III who was brought to the Isolation Hospital and Infectious Treatment Centre on May 25.

There are reportedly 1,816 suspected patients in the district. As many as 122 people tested negative while remaining tests are awaited.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 861 active patients. As many as 112 patients are in hospitals including 40 patients who arrived from other districts and 749 patients are home isolated. As many as 735 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology. Of the new patients, 42 are from the garrison city including four from cantonment and 23 from Potohar Town and 15 from Rawal Town.

From the other parts of the district, one patient each arrived from Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan and Murree while two were from Kotli Sattian. Three patients were brought from Islamabad and one each from AJK, Attock, Haripur and Jhelum respectively.

New Covid-19 patients arrived in city hospitals including 20 patients admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 16 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 33 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), 20 patients in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), one patient in Hearts International Hospital and Begum Akhter Rukhsana Hospital respectively and four patients in Bilal hospital.

There are four patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 55 are on oxygen support and 36 are stable.
