HYDERABAD: Rallies were taken out in parts of Sindh on Wednesday to condemn Israeli attacks in Gaza and express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians.

The question of Palestine remained unaddressed since 1880, said Sindh Progressive Committee (SPC) convener Dr Bakhshal Thalho, Karam Hussain Wassan, Aijaz Mangi, Imdad Qazi and Abdul Khaliq Junejo in their joint statement issued in Hyderabad.

World peace would remain disturbed as long as the problems of Palestine are not resolved, they said.

A ceasefire had been announced in Palestine after worldwide anti-Israel protests, but Israeli aggression continued in one or the other way, they observed. Over 250 people had been killed in recent attacks, they added.

They said Palestinian resistance was over 100 years old, but after the birth of Israel, the secular foundation of Palestine had been weakened by the imperialist forces.

They said the issue was not of the Jews and Muslims, but colonisation for which the imperialist forces were working in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and South Asia to date.

They alleged that the Pakistani rulers were sitting in the lap of the US imperialism and added that they were trying to please their “masters” by offering bases in Balochistan.

They said that on one hand, so-called democrats in the country and Sindh were crying for Palestine while on the other, they themselves had oppressed people by launching different projects. They said efforts were under way to “occupy” the coastal belt of Balochistan and Sindh. Bahria Town and DHA, displacement of indigenous people and settlement of outsiders were reflection of their policies, they added.

They said people would have to organise for local and international resistance. Palestine was the nucleus of anti-imperialism resistance, they added.

SUKKUR: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl took out a rally in Kandhkot city on Wednesday under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Sami Mirani, Qari Abdul Sattar Samejo, Qari Hizbullah Mirani, Dr Ghulam Hussain Khoso, Haji Manzoor Chachar and others.

The protest leaders said Israel had been committing atrocities against Palestinians for a long period, but international institutions, including human rights organizations and the United Nations, were silent. The rulers also needed to raise their voice in that regard, they said.

The Ittehad Ahle Sunnat took out a rally in Jacobabad in favour of the oppressed Palestinians to express solidarity with them as well as the Muslims of held Kashmir and also in favour of Pak Army.

According to reports, the rally led by Ittehad’s chairman Syed Aijaz Ali Shah started from Dargah Abdul Nabi Shah. After marching on different roads, it reached the DC Chowk where the protesters showered rose petals on the pictures of martyred Palestinians.

Speakers on the occasion said Israel through its terrorists was continuously killing the innocent Palestinian Muslims.

They appealed to the heads of Islamic states to take notice of the genocide of Palestinian Muslims at the hands of Israel and take stern action against the Zionist state.

Others who spoke included Syed Kamil Shah, Syed Zubair Ali Shah, Syed Aghul Shah, Qari Sher Ahmed Sahito, Abdul Ghaffar Qadri, Maulana Bashir Ahmed Qadri, Moulvi Nek Mohammad Hussaini and Mohammad Awais Raza Qadri.
