KARACHI: Despite challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi graduating batch of 2020 upheld the institute’s employability paradigm and kick-started their careers on a high note.

The Career Development Centre at the IBA recently launched the employment and placement statistics report for the class of 2020, according to a press release issued here.

The statistics are obtained every year from the graduating batches through an online survey.

A total of 601 graduates of the institute’s full-time degree programmes participated in the 2020 survey.

The survey revealed that over 80 per cent of the graduates were employed immediately after their graduation in top-tier organisations on high salary packages; whereas five per cent chose to be self-employed and four per cent went on to pursue further education. With many industries available for job prospects, information technology remained the top employability sector at 19pc, followed by banking and e-commerce sectors at 12pc each.

Other than these three sectors, financial institutions (6.5pc) and advertising and media (5pc) too were among the top employment sectors.

The survey further highlighted that the average salary of undergraduate degree holder increased by 4pc from 2019.

“The IBA prepares its graduates for professional life, boosts their career prospects, and gives them a competitive advantage in the job market due to the extensive training in soft skills development and academic rigour” the press release said.

With the launch of three new schools earlier this year, namely the School of Business Studies, the School of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts and the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, the IBA aims to further enhance its degree programmes and streamline its curriculum to prepare students for successful careers.
