HARIPUR: Economic affairs minister Omar Ayub Khan on Monday inaugurated work on the Lawrencepur-Tarbela Road.

The 26km road was carpeted several years ago but developed potholesinconveniencing the people travelling between Laurancepur and Tarbela Dam and Swabi district.

Minister Omar Ayub, who is an MNA from Haripur, got the Rs1.85 billion road project approved.

The KP Highway Authority will construct the road with the Nespak working with it as a consultant.

The road’s width has been increased from 22 feet to 33 feet and it will have 54 small culverts.

The minister said the project would benefit commuters and hundreds of thousands of residents.

He said he had got many developmental projects approved for Ghazi tehsil, including the construction of Bharwasa dam and gas supply to several villages.

Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser and PTI leader Yousuf Ayub Khan were also present on the occasion.

CM VISIT: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan will visit Haripur today (Tuesday).

PTI MPA and chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee Arshad Ayub Khan told reporters here on Monday that during the daylong visit, the chief minister would be accompanied by federal minister for economic affairs Omar Ayub Khan, local government minister Akbar Ayub Khan and senior party leader Yousuf Ayub Khan.

He said the CM would inaugurate the newly-constructed Shah Maqsood-Kohala Bala-Pir Sohawa Road, Haripur Bypass Road, Chungi No 11-City Bypass Road, and buildings of the Government Girls Centennial Model Higher Secondary School for Girls and Rescue 1122.

Mr Mahmood will also administer the oath to the newly-elected office-bearers of different PTI wings.
