ISLAMABAD: Police arrested two female lawyers after the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday rejected their bail petitions in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) rampage case.

ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan dismissed the bail petitions of Bushra Saleem and Shehla Bibi advocates and sent them to Adiala Jail on a 15-day judicial remand.

The court also rejected bail petitions of Miraj Tareen, Shaista Tabbasum Sultanpuri and Yasmin Sindhu.

The ATC judge directed the police to produce these lawyers before the court after taking them into custody.

Lawyers had stormed into the IHC on Feb 8 over demolition of their chambers by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The lawyers laid siege to the courtroom and the chamber of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, virtually keeping him hostage for about three hours.

They also barged into the offices of the secretary to the chief justice and his auxiliary staff, broke windows and even doors of the Chief Justice Block.
