PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday announced to declare the provincial capital as the capital metropolitan government by dividing it into six tehsils.
The local government and rural development department issued a statement on Tuesday, saying the Peshawar tehsil would be given the status of Peshawar capital metropolitan government, while the Town-II and Town-IV would be divided into five tehsils.
An administrative committee has been formed for the distribution of assets and staff for the new tehsils. Headed by deputy commissioner Peshawar Khalid Mehmood, the committee will submit its recommendations to the secretary Local Council Board for final approval by the secretary local government and rural development.
These administrative bodies will include capital metropolitan government, TMA Shah Alam, TMA Mathra, TMA Chamkani, TMA Badbher, TMA Peshtakhara and TMA Hassan Khel.
The new tehsils have been given ‘C’ category status while the metropolitan government will consist of all the urban union councils.
The Town-II will consist of TMA
Shah Alam, TMA Mathra and TMA Chamkani. Similarly, the Town-IV will consist of tehsil municipal administration Badbher and tehsil municipal administration Peshtakhara (as two new tehsils).
