ISLAMABAD: The process of the elections for the chairpersons of the Senate standing and functional committees on Wednesday continued for the second consecutive day with the unanimous election of the heads of 13 more committees.

According to a notification issued by the Senate Secretariat, Mushahid Hussain of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was unanimously elected as chairman of the standing committee on defence whereas Sherry Rehman of the PPP has been unanimously elected as the chairperson of the standing committee on foreign affairs.

Out of the 13 committees, the chairmanship of six committees has gone to the opposition parties whereas the remaining seven committees will be headed by the members belonging to the ruling coalition headed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
