DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Deputy commissioner Arifullah Awan has said the district administration and health department are jointly setting up a mass coronavirus vaccination centre at Rata Kulachi Sports Complex here for the speedy protection of the residents from the infection.
He told Dawn on Wednesday that the administration would deploy data operators, revenue staff and focal persons for the facility besides managing power generators for smooth electric supply.
The DC said the district health office would provide the centre with doctors and support staff, arrange vaccines, thermal guns, face masks and hand sanitisers, and create public awareness, while the water sanitation and services company would set up hand washing stations and ensure cleanliness of the premises. He said Rescue 1122 would arrange well-equipped ambulances.
Meanwhile, divisional commissioner Amir Latif chaired a consultative meeting on rod kohi (irrigation system) and Gomal Zam Dam command area.
The commissioner said all resources would be utilised to ensure equitable distribution of water for the irrigation of lands from Gomal Zam Dam.
He said the local agriculture sector depended on water from Gomal Zam Dam, so the release of water from the dam was being monitored to ensure fairness. The commissioner said the administration was working to prevent the waste of water to irrigate more and more land.
