LAHORE: The Prime Minister office has directed the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore to take the influential tenant, who had grabbed a widow’s house in Lahore and delayed payment of rent, to task.

A widow had explained her ordeal to the prime minister on a telephone call that the brother of a former Lahore SSP investigations had grabbed her house two years ago and was not paying rent. She also explained that her house was retrieved by former CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh but the influential tenant was still not paying her outstanding rent amount to the tune of Rs500,000.

On the instructions of the prime minister, CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar later confirmed that the matter had been resolved as outstanding amount of Rs472,000 had been paid by former tenant Imran Asghar to the aggrieved lady Ayesha Mazhar. The tenant had also withdrawn his civil case from the court.

The prime minister office spokesman says a written instruction has been sent to the CCPO Lahore to take action against the tenant, who made the widow a rolling stone for two years, and report within a few days. “Police will take action against the persons, who made the widow suffer for such a long time,” the spokesman told Dawn.
